Prayers for the Synod - from the Archdiocese of Vancouver

At the end of this month, representatives of the episcopacy and of the lay faithful from around the world will gather in Rome for the 16th Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, “For a Synodal Church. Communion, Participation, Mission.”

Pope Francis has said, “Without prayer there will be no Synod.” As I prepare to travel to Rome as one of Canada’s delegates at this important moment in the life of the universal Church, I am acutely aware of the need to be supported by your fervent prayer.

Over the course of October, I urge you to pray regularly for the Synod, and for me personally, and to call the People of God in our local Church likewise to sustained prayer during this gathering.

Fraternally yours in Christ,

+ J. Michael Miller, CSB Archbishop of Vancouver
